Hello, everyone. I know this is a deviation from my usual content, but I love baking focaccia bread. This recipe is from the book How to Bake Everything by Mark Bittman. I got this book at a second hand book store a few years ago in San Antonio. This is a super simple recipe. I have never made a bad batch of focaccia bread with this recipe. You need flour, yeast, salt, water, and olive oil. Mix flour, yeast, and salt. This time I opted for a whisk, but usually I use a spatula to reduce washing dishes. Slowly add water and olive oil. It takes some kneading and resting, and then it is baked. The whole process takes about four hours because you have to let the dough rest. There are a bunch of shower caps in our pantry for covering while baking. If anyone has a non-plastic alternative, please leave a comment. I use towels when I can, but sometimes the recipe specifically says cover in plastic. Is it always okay to use towels in place of plastic? Let me know! This recipe is also the base for pizza dough. You could put this in a greased pan with some sauce and your choice of toppings. This recipe uses several tablespoons of olive oil, so be aware if you are watching your oil intake. Sometimes I make this into garlic focaccia bread muffins. I make vegan garlic butter and fold it into the dough. Then I would cut it up into pieces to put in a greased muffin tin. You can make pretty much any flavor of focaccia bread. I have made cinnamon roll focaccia bread before and it was delicious. I went plain today because I wanted to. Here comes the best part of making focaccia bread! Dimpling the bread is very fun! I was worried that I would cut it because of my nails, but it survived. Add more olive oil. And then add some kosher salt. If you liked this video, I can make more because I enjoy baking bread. I hope you all have a great day!
