Seis Leches

Seis Leches is a blind box series idea that features six friends who are all based on different milk flavors. The design was inspired by Hirono figures, but I wanted to make them look less Eurocentric. If you are not familiar, a blind box series includes randomized figurines in boxes or bags. They have been popular for a long time, but have regained popularity recently. People like to guess what they have or try to gamble on picking their favorite design.

Synopsis

This blind box series idea is called Seis Leches because it follows six milk flavors. The flavors include: Matcha, Thai Tea, Ube, Chocolate, Strawberry, and Milk n Cookies. These are not all conventional milk flavors because I wanted to represent unique drinks that heavily feature milk. I chose to create a blind box series idea with milk flavors because there are so many milk flavors common in different parts of the world. Also, I love the meme “Seis leches? En esta economia?” Everything is expensive, so it seemed like a fun idea to create some (mostly) working class characters based on the meme. The beauty of this concept is that I can always expand the number of characters in the future.
The characters are in the early-to-mid thirties. Each flavor has a unique personality and sense of style. They all have jobs that correspond with their personalities. All of them are friends with one another. Notably, I decided that all the characters should be from the general Houston, TX area. I was inspired by the film Forbidden Fruits (2026) to have all my characters be from Texas for no real reason. I based their locations on their personalities and ethnicity. Also, each characters’ ethnicity corresponds with their color palette or their flavor. For instance, Matcha is Japanese-Jamaican because matcha lattes are quite common in Japan, and there is a sizable group of Japanese people in the Caribbean.

Geography

These characters all reside in the Houston, TX area. Houston is a tropical area because it borders the Gulf of Mexico. It is known for flooding and hurricanes. Houston is the largest city in Texas. The city is majority-minority. There are a lot of immigrant communities in the city, so it is also known for its diverse array of food options. Also, there are some notably queer areas of Houston, including Montrose. Overall, Houston is a diverse area and a perfect backdrop for these characters.

Modern Era

These characters live in the modern day. They have cell phones, vehicles, and all the other modern accessories. The only thing they do not have is rampant generative AI. I refuse to write about a world where people are using generative AI. Other than that, they live in the 2020s, but in a more idealized version. There is high speed public transit. There is healthcare for all. There are no police or other agents kidnapping or killing people. It is a world with a healthy relationship with technology and an appreciation for community.

When they Met

These characters have known each other for varying amounts of time. Strawberry and Chocolate have known each other since they were 8 years old. Ube transferred to their school when they were all 16 years old. Strawberry met Milk n Cookies when they both worked at their university’s library in their early 20s. Thai Tea met the group at the university because they worked at the cafe. Finally, Matcha met everyone when she answered a post to join a board game night at Strawberry’s roof-top apartment.

Art

Each of them has two accessories that match their personalities. I hope to one day make these concept sketches a reality, but I am not sure when I’ll be able to do that. If you want to know more about these characters, let me know! I have full character sheets for each of them.
